EFFECTIVE CULTURE THROUGH UNWRITTEN GROUND RULES® OR UGRs®

UNLOCKING THE CORPORATE CULTURE CODE

Your success depends on your people being fully engaged, committed and accountable. You need each and every team member to do what they are meant to be doing, and to behave like a co-owner of your business. There is no other way for you to achieve your strategic objectives. You know this to be true.

You already have people just like this on your team. And you know who they are.

You know that yours would be an even better workplace, with even better results, if more (and perhaps even all) of your people were to fit this mould. But your workplace, like most others, is probably also made of people who do not demonstrate these behaviours. Or rather, people who do not yet demonstrate these behaviours.

Most managers know that this has to do with culture. And they know about the importance of culture in the workplace. Paradoxically though, very few understand it in simple and practical terms. But the concept of Unwritten Ground Rules® or UGRs® changes all that.

UGRs® are what really drives business performance, because it drives people’s behaviour - yet, incredibly, these are rarely if ever discussed openly.

One way of understanding UGRs® is to consider some in a company:

  • At our meetings it isn’t worth complaining because nothing will get done
  • The only time anyone gets spoken to by the boss is when something is wrong
  • The company talks about good customer service, but we know they don’t really mean it, so we don’t really have to worry about it

To improve workplace culture and bottom line performance, you need to improve the UGRs®. There is no other way.

Over the past 20 years Steve Simpson, the creator of the UGRs® concept, and Stef du Plessis have developed a range of potent strategies that can help you to boost your culture - and your bottom line. They’ve done their homework. Together with the University of Western Australia, Steve has done world-first research to prove that the concept works; and our people development programmes that support the UGRs® concept were developed under the auspices of the University of Johannesburg. Most of all, their impressive track record with clients around the world is ample proof that it works.
